“Have you tried flossing this year? If not better start practicing flossing daily”, my Makati dentist told me.
Many of us ignored flossing because we are all fine with brushing. While brushing focused on the outer part of the teeth, floss is designed specifically to clean tight spaces between teeth and the gap between the base of the teeth and the gums. These spots are hard to reach by any toothbrush.
Teeth-friendly diet

Start eating foods not because they are yummy, but because they are healthy for you. Food such as nuts, fruits (like apples, strawberries, bananas), cheese, chicken, and vegetables are all teeth friendly. Are there foods that are not teeth friendly? Yes, there are! Later we’ll talk about them. You may want to read this article about what food to eat to have a good overall oral health.
Limit Sodas and alcohol intake

These are the not-friendly teeth foods. Sodas and alcoholic drinks cause stains on teeth that lead to discoloration. Too much intake can deplete the calcium level of the body, causing dental hygiene problems such as tooth decay and gum disease.
You also should start running away from Tobacco. Running away can save you from periodontal complications such as oral cancer.
If you need to drink sodas or alcohol, make sure to use a straw to avoid the drink having direct contact with your teeth. This is what my Makati dentist said. He said not all knew about this tip.
Remember that a whiter tooth is not an indication of good oral health. It is still good to have those white teeth on a healthy mouth environment. Let’s practice these four tips from my Makati dentist and enjoy the New Year!
